Great Company

Pros

- Competitive salaries and benefit - Flexible schedules (9/80 schedule is 'standard') - Great people and the opportunity to learn from folks considered industry experts - Interesting, innovative work. - As anywhere, there are times you'll need to work overtime but the company really tries to keep you close to a 40hr a week schedule and, unlike many places, they do provide comp-time or overtime pay.

Cons

May or may not be a con depending on how you feel about working for a defense contractor: There is a high probability that you are going to be building something that is designed to kill people. That may seem harsh, but this is the facts. Personally I look at as I'm building equipment that will help protect our troops and freedoms, but however you feel about it, you are going to have to come to terms with it, best you do so before you start. The second con: Many things you do are going to be classified which means A: you can't really talk about it and (more importantly to me) B: there is a lot of red tape to deal with. You will spend some time waiting for this, that or the other piece of paperwork to be processed so that you can actually start doing your work. Personally I think these are minor issues to deal with vs the pros of working for a company that actually seems to care about their employees but that is very much a matter of perspective, everyone is going to have to make their own call.

Pros

Benefits, people, free gym, nice cafeteria

Cons

Support staff/admins are not recognized as "part of the team". Admins make everything run smoothly and work behind the scenes, but are rarely (and I mean almost NEVER) acknowledged, never mind rewarded. Yearly raises are beyond skimpy due to the "quartile" your current salary falls in. The longer you work there, the harder it is to get a decent raise. And admins have little to no opportunity to grow and move into salaried positions. Very disappointing, especially with all of the "people matter" messages that are always being touted. The only people that matter are the management and high ranking officers. To them goes the spoils.
