Pros

Good benefits, work life balance

Cons

Too much middle management, training budget, culture, Unfair Promotion practices. Promotions happen with cousins, nephews and best friends or relatives of management. The senior or more qualified individuals often get overlooked. If you are not part of these clicks then forget about any upward mobility.

Pros

A large company with lots of different programs and opportunities. Good benefits with generally stable work.

Cons

Live and die by the government budget. The company is generally top heavy in regards to management so you are really waiting for people to retire to typically move up in a meaningful way. Yearly raises are nothing special.

Pros

Stable work, solid benefits, company is slow to lay people off, ample time off, steady employment for most functions, good ethics for the most part, cool technology and a mission to be proud of, work life balance, decent business systems

Cons

Mediocre management, slow to change, old white guys are just hanging on until retirement, HR is like junior high, no training dollars, promotions based on who likes you and who you know vs. competency, successful women are battle axes, matrix doesn't work, senior leaders are not held accountable for their selfish decisions and behaviors, good leadership is person, not role-based, a lot of people are just hanging on to get their pensions, ambition discouraged- IIS business is particularly dysfunctional, old office space like the 1980s
