Pros

Off Fridays. Benefits are decent, career opportunities exist, unless you sit in Engineering, and then you just become stagnant.

Cons

In my year end performance discussion, my manager said he would like to promote me as my work is consistent with 2 grades above, however, could he not promote me because my salary was too low. I asked how to increase my salary to get that promotion and he said there's nothing he can do and to just wait 4-5 years until my salary increased.

Pros

It is hard to write good reasons to work at Raytheon in Forest, MS. Benefits are comparable to Walmart's corporate world. There is a smoking area to release stress. I guess I do get a paycheck, a miserable one, but a paycheck. If I didn't get paid I would never step foot in this place, so I say those are the only reason to work for Raytheon in Forest.

Cons

Work is boring, not challenging, stagnant, no growth, managers will push and step on you until you leave for good. Low wages, bad raises, no employee rewards programs, no employee recognition, no employee family programs, lack of employee morale, lack of fun company activities. I must mention, Forest is a dry county, there is not a bar in Forest, you can't even drink your sorrows away! Well you aren't supposed to legally. You have to buy your liquor out of Scott county. However, if a cop stops you he can arrest you for Bootlegging! That is right! Prohibition is still going on. Forget about happy hours, or hanging out with your co-workers out of Church activities. Too many layers of management! And they know squat about manufacturing electronics. They do know how to yell, scream, and how to make your life miserable with unreasonable schedules and demands. There is nothing to do in Forest or 40 miles from Raytheon. According to managers it is perfect for anyone who works there as they make them believe that given that there is nothing to do in Forest, MS other than work, that's what employees must concentrate on, and do at all times.

Pros

The job is incredibly easy, and it is almost completely impossible to be fired. You should join if you are looking for an easy career/have responsibilities at home/want to settle down and never work more than 1-4hrs a week and get paid a low-end engineering salary.

Cons

I'd say that 50/100 employees at Raytheon are a complete waste of resources and don't contribute anything to the welfare of the company or to national security. Another 49/100 contribute at least somewhat, but at a significantly lower quality and volume than an average employee in a competitive commercial company. The last 1/100 employees are engineering fellows that keep the company going and are experts at herding sheep. If you join Raytheon, be prepared to: - Never be challenged—even if you go out of your way to participate in extra work/activities - Never be promoted for merit - Never be monetarily compensated for large accomplishments or strides of effort - Slowly lose your competency/"competitive edge" as you stay at Raytheon—I'd estimate a loss of 1 IQ point a year - Lose motivation to better yourself and stay intellectually stimulated
