Pros

PwC has an amazing culture that promotes people as fast as their abilities demonstrate they are ready. The opportunities for professional growth are unlimited. We work with the largest and most sophisticated clients in the world and help them solve their most complex challenges. The camaraderie among the professionals at PwC is outstanding. We all help each other and always there for each other. PwC cares about the community as well, encouraging all staff levels to volunteer including during regular work hours, sponsoring community service days, and supporting charities all over the world with dollars and talent.

Cons

PwC clients expect and demand our full commitment, and deservedly so. We are compensated accordingly, and sometimes giving 120% means working some intense hours. It's invigorating but requires energy and stamina. PwC in the US is a "regulated profession" due to Sarbanes Oxley and other regulatory requirements. Sometimes this means a rigid set of rules that can seem stifling. PwC takes its professional responsibilities extremely seriously, and we all feel proud to work in an environment of uncompromising ethical standards even if sometimes the time spent on administrative tasks can seem excessive.

Pros

- Once you are done with your first 2 years, you can get a well-paid middle office job at a hedge or PE fund. - You do learn a great deal. From MS applications (Excel especially) and the audit methodology. - Nice office (NYC). - When you got no clients, life is good! NOONE looks for you. You can just sit in the office and chill with the rest of the gang.

Cons

- I was 2nd year audit associate and the new hire was getting 2k in salary more than me! Bear in mind that I was teaching the dude how to check his email on lotus notes. - Very small firm when it comes to gossip. So just watch your back. - promotions based mostly on knowing the right people and having solid friendships with the managers and the seniors. So slack off as much as please, but don't miss out on team hang outs!

Pros

Excellent pay for fresh out of college hires, very intelligent coworkers, opportunity to travel. The work is varied within the same field due to moving from client to client and training is extensive. The company provides great benefits for its employees and comes across as a very professional place to work. Most of the people I worked with were very friendly and very willing to help someone who was just starting out. The people I met at trainings are people I will remember for a long time. For people early in their career it is a great place to figure out what kind of path would be good for your career.

Cons

The hours can vary drastically as they depend on the kind of work being done and what client your working with. I've seen them vary from 40 to 80 easily, especially on the core audit side. It is a really large firm so you can feel like you're getting lost in the shuffle unless you make a strong effort to really stand out. Most of the managers are very nice and understanding but the partners still seem a little out of reach on most occasions. Travel is nice but make sure you get your preferences across or you may end up traveling more or less than you want.
