Pros

The other people working in my floor were friendly and around my age Funny and friendly supervisor who understood my problems with the job Simple interview and willing to take me in with no experience

Cons

Poor contract hours that did not fit in with what I wanted and I wasn't allowed to change them and wasn't told them until it was too late. Expected to do a lot of overtime , only contracted for 8 hours at the weekend then told the day before that I was to do four hours overtime on the Saturday (which would increase as it got closer to the holidays) and work Sunday and fit in other commitments Not allowed to leave your section most of the time and this meant that I was bored for long periods of time as I was on a simple section that did not require me to be there most of the time. Only allowed to refill at certain times meaning there would be times when my section was empty yet I wasn't allowed to refill for another hour, just recover the barely filled shelves. Didn't know who to talk to be about problems such as handing in my notice in the end and couldn't find my supervisor half of the time to ask about when my break was or what I was supposed to be doing. Induction was poor as it was literally signing forms for two hours then a short tour if the shop.

Pros

Getting to be part of watching fashion mold itself about the client and being at the forfront of sales in a competitive industry.

Cons

You are disposable, made to know that and the management consists mainly of skilless individuals that have attained their positions by questionable means, very little freedom of any personal expression. Bathroom breaks are taken from your pay. Unreasonable management -demanding- you stay beyond your hours to help with store cleanup.

Pros

Other members of staff are friendly and will help you out. You have fixed hours each week so there is no rota in place for shop floor staff. Atleast you know what your regular hours are. If you work the weekdays, you will automatically get your bank holidays.

Cons

Terrible people management by those at the top who speak to supervisors and operatives like slaves. They dictate how the store should be run, yet have no idea how to practise what they preach. Lack of praise and progression within this business unless you get through the back door. The pay is minimum wage for shop floor staff and a few pennies more for supervisors. You get no discount, no bonus, no clothing allowance, no benefits. Nothing. You will get disciplined if work more than 40 hours in one week. You get accused of stealing by the manager. You work extremely hard long repetitive back braking days on your feet without a break. And the customers have absolutely no respect for what you do!
