Honestly some of the most recognizable and best brands you can imagine in CPG. Company makes healthy profits with aggressive strategies for growth that makes you feel comfortable that the company will continue to be the best at their respective categories for decades to come. Pretty good starting pay for the type of work you do. Lots of exposure to the CPG industry and it helps that you have such a powerful company with great brands to back you up. Job Specific – good starting pay, solid amount of vacation to start, amazing benefits and pension Pay is good (50-55K roughly based on the area and what business group you are in, either large or small format with small format paying significantly more) for what you do but don’t expect to have any resemblance of a work life balance until you become a lead of your own route (it’s common to wait upwards of 5 years for a position to open up) it’s based on seniority so it doesn’t matter how hard you work, only whether enough people have retired or quit before your chance at the lead position. Work life balance is terrible. Weekends are crazy busy and as a swing your official weekend is Tue, Wed. And vacation booking is done so early in the year so you need to plan out what you want to do and where you want to go a year in advance. You have to book all your vacation for the year in early January with little flexibility on switching it (unless you make a deal with someone else which isn’t impossible but very uncommon). BTW vacation is booked through a seniority based system. Good luck on getting July or August off until you have a few years under your belt. Say good bye to your long weekends, that’s when you make money and work the hardest since sales go through the roof during this time. You will become the polar opposite of everyone else with their normal work hours and come to hate long weekends, stat holidays and the general holiday time. As far as career advancement is concerned hopefully you don’t have any ambitions. If you are young it’s a great experience but don’t get too attached you will find that in order to move up you will have to move out. Other companies are a better long-term bet if you can get in. If you are interested in a career in CPG, I would recommend you take this job and try to learn everything you can along the way, and then take this experience somewhere as soon as you are able to cause this job is taking you nowhere inside the company Moral of the story, this job is for you if you are looking for a brain dead role, and want to get a nice pay cheque every week without any possibility of ever losing your job. Great if you have a family to support, very little stress when you finish your day as you take nothing home with you. If you want a career with this company, you better have some other seriously good CPG work experiences or if you are a member of the PepsiCo leadership program, these are the only 2 ways to advance. Near zero chance of advancement from a sales rep position, even if you have education. Take this job if you have zero career ambitions. This job is where your career goes to die.
