Pros

A rewarding role working with authors and amazing books, friendly and passionate colleagues. Generous staff discount on books.

Cons

Heavy workload, working overtime is common (especially in editorial), low pay, slow career progression, not always as diverse or inclusive as it seems from the outside.

Pros

Lots of initiative like summer hours, flexible working, parental leave for both parents, good benefits package, all company conferences. All targeted towards better employee engagement and a more contented workforce.

Cons

Working as an IT employee in a publishing company you sometimes feel like a second class citizen treated more as a resource than a person. They know that they need technology to function but see it as a bit of a necessary evil.
