Very poor management created a toxic work environment
Pros
Remote friendly, excellent colleagues, modern stack. You could have the best work-life balance as I had for 2 years (but depending on the manager your life can become miserable real quick)
Cons
During my time there, I observed what appeared to be inconsistent hiring practices that may favor certain nationalities. Despite having a 100% remote contract, I was required to travel to Madrid at my own expense, which seemed to contradict the original contract terms. When I raised concerns about this policy, it led to tensions with management and termination eventually. The compensation was below market rate with no additional benefits. There were noticeable cultural differences between the UK and Spanish operations, with the Spanish office feeling disconnected from the main organization. Decision-making processes were often slow due to bureaucratic procedures, and approval workflows frequently experienced delays. I found that some members appeared less engaged than others, which impacted overall productivity. The software engineering management style didn't help me to grow professionally - there was significant oversight and what felt like preferential treatment for other team members. Communication could be more constructive and collaborative. The HR department seemed to have limited knowledge of local employment regulations and focused primarily on company events like PRIDE month rather than actual employee support and development.
