Pros

Doctors are great along with most of the patients. Benefits are okay, once you have been there long enough.

Cons

Management is terrible. NOT the place to work if you intend on moving up. And if there is a mistake on their part, be prepared to take the fall.

Pros

The pay, the schedule flexibility, and the employee benefits. The focus on teamwork is excellent at this hospital. We had such an amazing team on our floor. The new RN internship program was also a great experience to go through. Quality patient care.

Cons

Patient satisfaction here is HUGE. I definitely understand what it means for ratings and what not, but it sometimes gets in the way of providing care. Patients are made to feel like this a 5 star hotel instead of a hospital...Nurses end up running around trying to fetch all kinds of things to please patients when they could be providing care, charting, or helping a fellow nurse. It's a little messed up. Our unit was almost always short staffed so we were often forced to accept more patients than we needed to. The ratio was supposed to be 1:5 at most but we would sometimes go up to 1:6. It didn't happen ALL the time but when it did, it was very stressful and it felt unsafe. Also, If you do the RN internship program you have to sign a 2 year contract. If you break it immediately after the internship you have to pay over $4000! It's prorated the longer you stay during those 2 years. That's a big decision to make because you never know what will happen in life.

Pros

Northside Hospital is known in the metro Atlanta area for their excellent maternity and neonatal clinical care. They are also fast growing in the community cancer care arena.

Cons

The organization is seriously behind the times with regard to ongoing employee, and leadership development and training. I worked in two of the PFS aligned areas over five years; both areas were perpetually understaffed with entry level employees and supervisors. Often staff were expected to work overtime, while Coordinators, Managers, Directors, and VPs enjoyed leaving each day on time, taking leisurely lunches, and ample PTO. When the areas did well, management was rewarded handsomely, but the worker bees reaped little in comparison. Sadly, a healthy work-life balance is nonexistent. Beware of bullying bosses at every level of the corporate structure - upper management is completely disconnected from their staff, and stay so wrapped up in playing wasteful political games, that they find themselves putting out and covering up fires, that could have been avoided altogether.
