Pros

Northside Hospital is known in the metro Atlanta area for their excellent maternity and neonatal clinical care. They are also fast growing in the community cancer care arena.

Cons

The organization is seriously behind the times with regard to ongoing employee, and leadership development and training. I worked in two of the PFS aligned areas over five years; both areas were perpetually understaffed with entry level employees and supervisors. Often staff were expected to work overtime, while Coordinators, Managers, Directors, and VPs enjoyed leaving each day on time, taking leisurely lunches, and ample PTO. When the areas did well, management was rewarded handsomely, but the worker bees reaped little in comparison. Sadly, a healthy work-life balance is nonexistent. Beware of bullying bosses at every level of the corporate structure - upper management is completely disconnected from their staff, and stay so wrapped up in playing wasteful political games, that they find themselves putting out and covering up fires, that could have been avoided altogether.

Pros

They hired me without any hospital experience. They have good benefits.

Cons

Supervisors don't communicate effectively with staff. You don't find out there is a problem with your work until it is too late to fix it. There is a lot of gossip and back biting - unprofessionalism in the unit I worked. They lied to me and told me I would be paid for my earned PTO when I was terminated and 3 weeks later I was told I wouldn't be getting it. If this is how they are going to treat their employees, I would hate to be a patient there.
