In Nokia there are competent and intelligent people. Products used to be cool. Nordic way of management is work life balanced.

Lack of clear vision how to make it back to the top of the industry. Confused management and confused decisions.

German work laws as well as conditions achieved through union negotiations result in an extremely flexible work environment, both strictly limiting overtime as well as allowing the accumulation of hours for combining with vacation days, allowing frequent and long vacations.

Cons

It is a large company whose employee actions are mostly driven by short sighted provincialism with regard to protecting ones own job/pet project/influence, etc. Essential business decisions remain unmade over several years, while one "team" after another is tasked with recommending the best decisions, the recommendations then dutifully ignored.
