Pros

As a financial services representative, one has a lot of autonomy. You make your own schedule and choose your own clients. No two days are ever the same.

Cons

It's difficult to build a practice here given the ancient practice of paper pushing that MetLife still uses. Next to nothing is digital. There is a huge emphasis on "wet signatures" and initials. Their compliance practices are unrealistic as well. Hence, the need for client initials all the time. Don't expect to make a living here. It literally takes 5-6 weeks to get paid on a piece of business and then they hold most of your commissions is a factor pool. You will only receive 10% percent per week.

Pros

Company is in-flux, lots of changes, and hence lots of potential opportunities to move around and experience different types of working environments and new challenging assignments.

Cons

old gossipy culture of indecision, lots of committees and meetings, lots of backstabbing conversations in the hallways, too much politics... meets new top management from investment banking driving deep cuts and aggressive changes the investment banking style. Two cultures are clashing, changes are HUGE, and while the company may emerge victorious, lots of "bodies" along the way are inevitable. If you decide to join, have appetite for this and be prepared to jump.
