Pros

I thought it was a good company.

Cons

Too much turmoil. Seems like the company can't figure things out. Restructure and layoffs impacting hundreds of employees, many very qualified and committed.

Pros

MetLife encourages collaboration and continuous improvement. Employees are encouraged to learn, cross-train and grow a career.

Cons

Occasionally, they move a position from one site to another. That means that if you aren't able to snag a different position in your state or move to another state, make sure you have an excellent resume.

Pros

Nice facilities in Cary, NC. Fairly relaxing environment, especially for employees. Did not really see them working overtime or too stressed. Most employees on my floor worked from home on Friday. I suspected some did other days, as their desks would be empty for a week or more at a time.

Cons

Contractors treated as second class, there to mop up things employees did wrong or failed on. Shortage of seats, despite the fact many were empty each day. You were not allowed to sit at a desk unless it was assigned to your business unit. Internal information systems are ancient and very fragmented. A lot of manual entry and tickets have to be open. Despite being the Global Technology Office (GTO), MetLife employees do very little coding or support of their own systems. It is primarily done by vendors and their teams. (contributing to the apparent great quality of life for employees!) Restructure of the company due to sell/trade off of US retail business is leaving some in limbo.
