Pros

We had a great comradarie at McDonalds. I can say that I enjoyed coming to work and having the responsibility of running an effective shift. Like any job you have people who just wanted to complain but I would recommend this employer to others.

Cons

Very long hours and always on your feet. This job is not for anyone wanting to pick up an easy check. You will work 5 shifts a week of 10 hours. But on each shift you will have to come in 30 minutes early and also prepare to stay late for 1 hour finishing up.

Pros

McDonald's has a reputation for hiring just about anyone, and that was helpful for me when I needed short-term employment. Working with customers can be a satisfying experience, and some managers put a lot of effort into their work. Employees get a free meal, with a few restrictions on what you can get. Flexible scheduling.

Cons

On the other hand, the fact that getting hired by McDonald's is so easy works against it. Most of the employees and even some of the managers are apathetic and contribute only the bare minimum. I found that no matter how much slack I tried to pick up from others, it was never enough to keep things running smoothly. There is practically no morale or work ethic. Customers are generally upset by the lack of service. The store is dirty, and nobody seems to notice or try to change this. Much of the equipment is old and works poorly. Pay is the legal minimum across the board. Raises are minuscule to nonexistent. Opportunities for advancement are there, but the pay increase associated is so small that a different entry level job will often pay more than a management position at McDonald's.

Pros

They were pretty generous with free food, made some good friends, cash (however meager) was helpful, close to my house, generous with hours

Cons

minimum wage sucks, manager was an idiot, dealing with loser customers, had to talk to some workers because of their less than stellar English
