Pros

Good big company benefits. Working hours are generally ok, flexible working is accommodated. Not the best paying company but not the worst either.

Cons

Very political, poor HR strategy, too many mid level managers with enough say to prevent / stifle change. Good people often let go in favour of "yes men" in an old boys club.

Pros

You are working at the top firm in its industry. Name recognition. Does well financially. Your colleagues are smart as hell, and everyone is a top performer. You will learn a lot.

Cons

Work life balance is nill. Pretty much everyone works 60-80 hours a week. It is a very "pass the buck" environment - i.e. no one takes accountability for their own actions - it's always someone else's fault. People do not treat each other well here.

Glad you are finding value in some of the fundamentals of MMC. Getting the balance between the volume of work and the resources isn't easy and clearly we aren't getting it right in your department and/or for your team. Treating each other with respect is part of our commitments to each other. If you read this response, please consider coming to see me.

Can't keep talent

Pros

I work with some great people. The work is fun and challenging.

Cons

I'm considered top talent in my area yet I can't seem to get a promotion that comes with an actual pay increase. I have posted for several jobs over the last 9 months and have not received a response either way. Applications just go into a black whole. Not progressive with work from home options. We are losing people because we haven't caught up to what the work force is being offered in the market and our MD "doesn't believe in it". Seems to be a lack of communication within the division. Leaders who aren't held accountable.
