Pros

Many different technology stacks, reasonable work/life balance, little to no backstabbing or peer politics, pay on par with industry averages. Free 1/2 day summer hours program is excellent if one's manager embraces it. The company is actively attempting to move into more modern tech practices, but turning a corporation is like steering a battleship...it takes time and great effort.

Cons

MST is organized in "business units" and each one has its own personality and operating style. One's experience can differ completely depending on BU assignment. Access to newer technology is completely based on one's BU, its funding, and its managements' willingness to take risks and innovate. Company has a retail mindset rather than a technology focus. IT employee benefits are the same as the rest of the retail organization and are quite expensive. Very few perks compared to modern IT companies. No telecommuting allowed.

Pros

-The environment is relaxing and laid back -Manager not constantly looking over your shoulder, get your work done at your pace as long as it is on time. -Very nice people, I've been able to build several meaningful relationships -Recent switch to allow jeans and a nice shirt as dress code, love it -Summer hours gives you some extra time off over the summer. Get to leave on a half day on certain Fridays in the summer. Decent amount of time off as well.

Cons

-Hard to move up with the bench process -The pay could definitely be better -The benefits aren't the best -Depending on the team, lots of down time

Pros

As a software developer I was able to learn and improve my skills in a comfortable environment. My colleagues were of good character and I rarely saw any uncivil confrontations at work. I felt able to take time off when I needed and the job was an enjoyable experience.

Cons

Not challenging enough, slow release schedules, too old of a crowd as someone in my 20s.
