Pros

Lowes is a great place to work. Many opportunities exist for promotion if you wish to take advantage of what is offered to you. The benefits package is hard to beat. Compensation is average for the job title however once you have proven yourself pay increases can be given IF you persue them . No harm, No foul if you wish to stay in your current position

Cons

Numbers driven game. Constant changing policies depending on sales of the moment. Mid managers at store level give the tools to do the job today and remove them tommorrow. New managers can be really fun!

Pros

Lowe's is a pretty good place to work overall. I respect my management chain. Lowe's is a pretty solid company and I am not afraid of layoffs as I might be in some of the other companies around the Charlotte area. They have a decent medical plan, and a pretty good 401k option. They are usually pretty laid back when it comes to your working hours as long as your work is completed. They will work with you if you need to work an alternate schedule or need to take some time off during the week for a medical/dental appointment etc.

Cons

Lowe's starting salary can be a bit lower than some of the other area employers (but you need to weigh that with the fact that Lowe's has not had a layoff in a very long time (if ever)). Also raises seem to be relatively low, don't expect to move up in salary very quickly. 2 weeks vacation to start is pretty much non-negotiable. They have only about 6 paid holidays per year and you will probably need to work a couple of them to support the stores which are open 364 days a year (Only closed Christmas and Thanksgiving I believe).
