Pros

The pay is pretty decent for retail and i haven't had any problems getting time off when I need it. The associates are usually very friendly and just want to make money like everyone else. On occasion you will have a good zone or manager who actually cares... but it is rare.

Cons

If you start as a part-time employee there is little chance to get full time. Plus they like to promote people that are in the managers click more than people who actually deserve it. They will work a skeleton crew into the ground and then just replace them when they are no longer useful.

Pros

Higher than minimum wage pay. majority of the time the work is a breeze as far as working on the floor goes. They are also great about working around your part time schedule for other commitments. Compensation for some positions is also great. Particularly sales specialist positions. Raises are also sufficient to those who work hard. Lowe's Is a place where in most cases your hard work will go with praise and a raise (When your review comes around).

Cons

management can sometimes be disrespectful (depends on the person). It can also seem that sometimes they cant properly do there job. There also seems to be that at times there is no say on where you will be working in the store.

Pros

If you can tolerate an initial hire period in a difficult department such as lumber, garden/seasonal, or paint you can often be rewarded with a position in a department such as millwork, flooring, or appliances that pays much better. I've found Lowe's to be a good choice to work at while I attend college but I do not plan to make a career of it.

Cons

The retail schedule is difficult on family life, although being a college-age bachelor I don't mind as much as some of my older peers. Difficult customers wear me down. Company policy will dictate you tell them "no" for things such as bogus/stupid returns or discounts. The pattern seems to be that we floor associates follow policy but the customer gets what they want from management. It makes us look incompetent.
