Pros

Can move up to senior management without even having a high school diploma. As a company the are very good about promoting from within.

Cons

The pay doesn't match the amount of hours put into the job. Lowes makes you believe that you have a chance to bonus every year. This makes the managers put thier heart in soul into the comany, The negative part of this, is they know exactly what they are doing and make the bonuses just unattainable.

Pros

Great benefits & great people. I love all the people I work with. I am currently looking to get promoted. I look forward to it, but I might have to go to another store. The senior Manager's are fair across the board and work well as a team. It's hard to write review's for the company, because no one is actually writing for the company, they are writing for their store. The review will be bad if you work for a bad Manager, and yes we all have one. The company is a great company to work for. i am proud to work for Lowe's. It is much better than Home Depot and we also get an employee discount. The health benefits are great, and we are offered many options for whatever help we need. Lowe's offers legal services, massage, and therapy for mental health! i have looked for another job many times and so far haven't had any luck finding a better company. I decided to put my efforts into getting promoted instead. I don't want to be the bad manager that no one wants to work for/with. Making a store great starts with all of us. The company is already great.

Cons

Long hours & mean customer's. People can be nasty at any workplace. I wish customers would treat employees the way they want to be treated at their place of employment! I also really hate when other co-workers are negative and complain. It just brings everyone else down. It is part of Lowe's culture to support team work, but everyone has to be on board or it doesn't work. I do however think that Management is slightly underpaid.

Pros

Working with an excellent group of co workers and "sometimes" management

Cons

It is very difficult to get benefits. You MUST be working full time to get them. Even then, you have to bug HR to make sure that you get them. As mentioned in other reviews, the "Good ol boy" network is still in place. While minorities might not have as much difficulty moving up, women are RARELY promoted. If they are promoted it is for the head of the front end or Home decor and not anywhere else. Depending on the store, some managers will try to cut corners to increase sales. When I worked at lowes in Lawn and Garden, safety rules were routinely ignored! If you are a male cashier expect to be singled out to do carts when the cart pushers call in or don't show up to shifts.
