Pros

The goods things about working at Lowe's was the people you worked with, it was a very laid back atmosphere. I didn't mind that 1 hour lunch either.

Cons

Some of the downsides were that some customers were very unfriendly and very demanding, they would just stand there and watch you load 25 to 30 bags of mulch when they could actually help you. A few of the management isnt very helpful.

Pros

Job stability, excellent training, better than average benefits, employee discounts. Exceptional training, from products to departmental usage and sales methods. CBT (Computer-based training) is exceptional. Previous bonuses had been excptional, although current revenues are down and bonuses have disappeared.

Cons

Strict policies and procedures with heavy consequences for failing to adhere to letter of the law. No time or staff to implement management directives. As managers, we are expected to be creative to get the job done, but the policies and procedures are written so tightly, that this is not possible. Managers are salaried and scheduled to work 55 hours per week, but are expected to produce at least 80 hours of work per week. Technology is very poor. Computer systems are buggy and antiquated. No work / life balance whatsoever. There is just work..

Pros

The people are very friendly and it is not a high pressure job. I'm over 60 years old and came out of retirement so that I could get insurance. Lowes management at the store level was unable to give me full time status but I was able to get full-time hours. Part-timers insurance is really pretty pathetic in that it will only pay up to a $1000 in benefits per year. My meds are almost $500/month, so that means I've got 3 months of insurance. Full time employees get Blue Cross and real benefits. It would be great if I everyone that wanted could get the same insurance.

Cons

The hours are not the best in the world. You either have to be there at 6:30 in the AM or you have to stay until 10:00 in the PM. Every once in a while you get a mid-shift.
