Pros

I worked at Liberty Mutual for a 15+ years. During that time, I was able to transition from an individual Software Development role into a leadership role in agile project management. There were many people who had long careers at Liberty. They invest in employee development and it was usually clear what an individual needed to thrive there. What I loved most were the people I worked with. There was a culture of honesty and collaboration. People were open to help each other through tough times. Everyone respected each other and we knew that people had lives outside of work.

Cons

Liberty is going through a large restructure right now due to less than stellar performance last year. They have cut IT staff in the US significantly especially those in dedicated Scrum Master roles. If you are in the agile project management space - there is definitely a shift away from dedicated Scrum roles at Liberty. I expect they are shifting away from Agile Project Management to something else. This might have to do with shifts in upper management and how they want to restructure the company to suit their vision. Liberty Mutual management may want a slimmer cheaper IT department and cutting labor is the easiest way to get to that.

Pros

Few and far between! There are a few amazing sups and managers still left after downsizing. Only positives as of now.

Cons

Preach work life balance and do the exact opposite. Micro manage everything, including “uncapped commissions”. Would have never thought I would consider leaving after being here for so long, but when a company begins to preach about mental resiliency as if it is part of your job requirements it is time to go! They will make sure they never pay you enough to make jeopardizing your mental health worth the effort.

Don't work here

Pros

The only pro to this company is the ability to work remote.

Cons

This is the worst claims position I have every been in. There is an unrealistic and insufferable amount of claims. They have have high quality expectations with high workloads that are unachievable. All they care about is unrealistic metrics and will fire you before your 1 year mark to collect their sign on bonus from you. This happened to a colleague of mine. The work environment is very stressful and pay and bonuses do not match work expectations. Most people either quit or have to take leave due to the extreme stress. There is no growth here and they do not care about their employees. Worst company I've ever worked for Benefits are subpar Health insurance isn't good at all. No job security you will be looking over your shoulder at all time and will be extremely stress to keep up with the workload.
