Pros

Good compensation, good people, and a strong well diversified company. People there work hard but want to see each other succeed.

Cons

Constant acquisitions and restructuring make it a challenging place to work. Almost everything is actuarially driven. Just when employees start to get good at their jobs, another restructuring hits.

Pros

working hours can be flexible as long as you're getting the job done. easy to schedule around important events, as long as you make up the time elsewhere.

Cons

most of the time, little work-life balance - to do well, you must work aggressively and put all your free time into LM

Pros

The compensation is quite competitive for interns! There were opportunities to switch to other departments after the end of your internship period, particurlary if you were interning at a branch office and wanted to work in corporate in Boston. Conference calls each week allows you to learn about different careers within the company and you can ask questions to senior level management.

Cons

It depends on which office and position. As a claims intern, work load was not challenging and it gets boring very easily. 99% of the time, you are on the phone giving customer service. The huge presentation at the end of the internship was probably the most learningful experience. Other than that, basically 90% is job shadowing; the other 5% is conference call presentations with corporate and then 5% doing actual work. I think positions in corporate would be more fun and meaningful.
