Pros

Every office can be very different, but generally a relaxed and understanding work environment. There tends to be a decent work-life balance. There are four personal holidays and 15 vacation days. The work week is 37.50 hours per week, so 7.5 hours per day, as opposed to 8.

Cons

Very rigid in some policies and Liberty Mutual does not tend to be on the cutting edge of technology and business environment changes.

Pros

Stable environment in an unstable economy. Good benefits (401K, pension, salary). Good work/life balance if you take the initiative and don't let them force you into more work.

Cons

VERY stuffy, corporate environment, not conducive to the next wave of workers. Decisions aren't made looking for the best outcome, but based on objectives and fear of angering Sr. Managers. Very slow to change.

Pros

Above average starting pay and benefit package, excellent training and licensing support, established fairly conservative company with honest business practices.

Cons

Micromanagement so extreme that even bathroom breaks are timed and limited to an average of 3 minutes per day. Idiotic boosterism and 'pep' activities that include stupid costumes, and penalties for not participating. Everything is about performance 'stats'. Reps are expected to solve customer complaints on the spot, but if you do that, your stats (and raises and reviews) suffer greatly--so it's a double message. Two year 'up or out' policy for entry level CSRs even though very few 'up' positions exist to move into, so lots of reps stuck at the bottom and encouraged to get out. The corporate culture of this place is very idiosyncratic and extremely conservative. If you 'fit' then Liberty may be your dream job. If you don't, it will be hell on earth. Most new reps fall into the second category but make just enough money that it's almost impossible to leave since the area is economically depressed and few other jobs are available locally.
