Pros

Great training; decent pay; company really seems to care; sales quotas to keep your job in the first two years are pretty modest; once you get past the first two years, which is easy enough, you have phenomenal job security. Lots of flexibility to come and go as you please and work the hours you want to work (depends on your manager); Liberty Mutual is growing, expanding and doing fantastic as a company.

Cons

You can only sell personal lines, no commercial insurance; renewal commissions are ridiculously low; Despite the company growing and making more money year after year, the compensation plan actually gets worse year after year. It's been that way every year for the 5 years I have been here. They are constantly changing the commission structure for the worse; Very little opportunity for advancement (unless you live in Boston); You cannot specialize in Life insurance or just auto and home, there is constant pressure to sell all 3 lines of insurance. It's a non-stop grind; The managers in my experience have mostly been terrible. In my 5 years, I have seen 5 branch managers come and go!

Pros

Work/life balance, compensation for technical/support positions (i.e. project management, analyst, etc), job opportunities (if willing to relocate) and you are challenged in your job. Senior Management is constantly trying to improve the culture.

Cons

As in any large company than can be some politics and managers who keep you from getting ahead (that's why more employees should take advantage of the relocation opportunities). Some of the hiring internally is unjustified. They need to hire more based on talent.
