some departments are very interested in embracing the changing work environment others are very stuck in a "old girl's/boy's club" situation; fresh ideas are encouraged as important however lower/middle management seem very frightened of thinking outside the box; some people have been in the same positions for very long times ... which makes them very afraid of change and unable to see the bigger pictures; less opportunity in the regional offices compared to the large centres when with technology being what it is and advancements being made accordingly the hiring folks need to start looking outside of the "circle" for qualified employees;

The substantial con to me is the fact that Intact is not slow to cut employees. I agree that this is necessary if an employee is underperforming, however at times it feels like its more of a business decision to get free up your FTE for future business plans. Ultimately you need to get noticed and liked by upper management to feel like you have a secure foothold. In such a large company, that can be a challenge.
