Avoid at all costs….especially if you are early talent.

Pros

Work/life balance. Literally- half of these people are not working, period. They spend their days, time, and energy crafting excuses, complaints, or distractions from the objectives at hand in an effort to avoid any kind of tangible progress, at all costs. If you come from an environment of accountability or success, be prepared for the counter. It’s comical. But, you’ll have a lot of free time to explore your next opportunity or invest (personally, of course) in upskilling.

Cons

-No accountability measures. Or, willingness on the business’ half to endorse basic management principles that are critical for progress and success. - Unmanaged employees, with no agency for FLMs to staff or implement performance plans as needed. This company spends more time protecting under performing employees than it does attempting to improve their performance. -Lack of employee engagement. Most meetings are headshots on a screen, at best. If you attempt to engage with the floating headshots (ex: ask a question or encourage them to engage) expect HR complaints of being labeled as taking a “fear based” approach to management. If you’re looking to connect or have coherent conversations in meetings….this isn’t the company for you. -Insubordinance is normalized. Not to be confused with critical feedback (that’s healthy!) if you dare ask an employee to do anything, ever….and gosh forbid, follow up…..you’ll face encouraged whiplash that any other professional environment has structure and expectations in place to prevent.

Steer clear of marketing, otherwise, pretty solid

Pros

This is a pretty solid place to work. Balanced work load, okay pay. While I'm no fan of Koch, their org structure and philosophy is good.

Cons

Exec turnover. The new CMO has zero experience in B2B and is making terrible decisions across the board. As a result, everyone in marketing is leaving and there simply aren't enough people to do the work. On top of that, there's zero structure to get the work done. It's a frustrating experience and doesn't show signs of changing.
