Nice Coworkers, No Advancement or Recognition

Pros

I love my coworkers. Ability to work from home when kids are sick or out of school is helpful. Health insurance is good.

Cons

No performance reviews. Minimal pay increases, i.e. 1.5% every two years is common. Few opportunities for advancement. Positions above manager are always hired from outside. Women especially have few opportunities to advance, and pay is not equal. Poor communication from management about company direction. Major offshoring and replacement of senior employees with new grads to save money. Poor coordination between departments causes lots of frustration for customers and employees both. Culture puts sales first, then has everyone scramble to create what was sold.

Pros

Some of the most talented people to work with on the creative side.

Cons

VP's and SVP's with swelled heads who think they are entitled to walk all over others and treat them like they are worthless. Upper management who elected to promote other managers that may get the job done but do so by stepping all over others and pushing out super talented people who are really kind and maybe do not have as big of a voice as others.

Over promised and under delivered

Pros

The people are super friendly (in general). This has a 20 word minimum, and I am struggling to find enough pros.

Cons

No internal promotions, no raises, They promise you the world to get you employed, but do nothing after. They tie the hands of management so that nobody can make decisions, then blame lower levels for not delivering. Every process has too many hurdles, which wastes time and money. They do not focus on the people that hold up the company, but sales are treated like celebs.
