Pros

I worked as a UX Designer at Hook & Loop, Infor's design "agency." Some of the best people I have ever worked with. So much talent came through our doors. A lot of us stayed, but a lot of other designers saw the light and took better jobs elsewhere. I learned a lot from these people, and I am a better designer because of them. The office camaraderie was excellent, and we all respected each other. We worked but we had a lot of fun too. Pay and benefits were decent, and the location was perfect.

Cons

I don't have a lot of great things to say about the company itself. Hook & Loop was an experiment, and I think we spent a lot of time and energy justifying our usefulness to the executives. The first few years felt directionless, with strategies frequently shifting. I made a lot of screens for products that never made it past the demo stage. Projects seemed to move at a glacial pace. Management changed often and usually without much notice. I felt like the managers were always struggling to find their way. Layoffs totally killed morale. Also, the Koch Brothers / Koch Industries are heavily invested in Infor. So that's a thing. I didn't feel good about their politics.

Pros

The only pro I can give this company is that my paycheck has always been deposited on time.

Cons

Where to start? How bout management actually gives a crap about their employees. It's not uncommon to go years between piddly raises that don't even cover the cost of living increase. Yet, management gets their bonus year after year. I'm shocked to see such positive reviews. Those people are either in management or have been given the koolaid to drink, cause this company sucks. It's an Oracle wanna be that never will. Until you start investing in your employees, the ones that make management look good and stop patting yourselves on the back will this company forever suck. Promoting people that don't do crap and getting rid of people, just because they may not agree with higher ups, is ridiculous. I would much rather have someone who speaks their mind than someone who just sticks their head up my butt. And let's discuss the lack of HR involvement. I couldn't even tell you who our HR people are. The only time they are ever on our floor is if someone is getting fired. You need help from them or send an email expecting a response - grab a cold one or 12, cause you will more than likely never get a response. Never have I seen a company that lets people get away with doing NOTHING and still have a job.

Pros

Work from home flexibilty; PTO, decent insurance, good technology strategy, even though many in development quietly ignore it.

Cons

To compensate for acquisitions that never deliver as promised, this company operates as if it's always 2008: draconian travel budgets for everyone but a select group, crummy marketing budgets that undermine the strategy, and routine surprise mass firings that destroy lives and careers of committed employees, and undermine the work quality of those left behind. Those at the top simply don't care, perhaps numbed by years of pruning acquisitions. You can definitely find a good experience here, if you are lucky enough to be removed from these dynamics, but then you are likely in a dead-end job with so-so comp.
