Pros

Relatively easy to move between groups over time. Lots of good developers around. Usually easy to apply yourself and do well.

Cons

A bit behind technology wise. Executives pretty out of touch with the actual issues facing development teams. Stack ranking means that it good developers on a team with great developers will be penalized. Palpable trend to reducing US headcount to move jobs overseas regardless of quality effects.
