Pros

No matter what your position is, you will learn a lot about many independent software suites and applications you likely have not been exposed to. Also, you will have many chances to network with many new people (internationally) for other possibilities if you leave IBM, or would like a transfer within the company.

Cons

Corporate politics can get dicey too quickly, usually fueled by a select few. Some managers have been known to “rush-to-judgment” without consulting the engineer in question, and this enthusiasm can easily lead to a valuable departure of a very good engineer from the company too easily.
