      Humana is a good stepping stone into the insurance business

      Pros

      Management track, flex time, opportunities for growth. Many opportunities if you work hard, and also they take into consideration what area you enjoy working in. They also are starting to have more people work from home which can be great for those with small children.

      Cons

      At times felt like factory work, or like you were in school still the way you were watched but probably necessary because some people take advantage. If you have a sick child it can be difficult to take time away from work, again some people take advantage so they are very strict on sick time.

      Pros

      There is an abundance of opportunity within Humana. If you are in Louisville (HQ), you effectively move up the corporate ladder and salary scale. Humana is a company that realizes that it needs to evolve to survive in the changing environment.

      Cons

      Communication within and between departments is poor. Humana is a world of silos with small bastions of power built around managers who protect their worlds with intense fervor. Problem being that these power structures are not built around people who are competent or effective managers of others.

      Pros

      Time off. My position allows me to have plenty of time off. Perfect Service might just pay off too. Its a great concept, but its really pathetic that Humana had to go to another company to figure out how to make its employees and, more importantly, its subscribers happy.

      Cons

      The saying, "Its hard to teach an old dog new tricks" holds true at Humana. A majority of the management has been with the company for decades and trying to get management to install new policies is hell! ITIL has been in the "works" for 3 years now and not much has changed.
