Pros

Great Benefits, Louisville is a great medium size city to work in with low cost of living. Humana has a huge presence here. There are several graduate schools within 5 miles of most offices. Hours are not too long in the 40-50 a week range. Enjoy all the people that work at this company, make the day go faster.

Cons

Healthcare field, pay seems a little low for years of experience. Getting hired at this company is proably the worst I have seen. Expect to post a resume and maybe here something back in 6 months if you are the person hired. Everyone has a horror story getting hired.

Pros

I worked for Humana Tricare division, who are a group of folks committed to serving the needs of our country's veterans and active duty service members. Special care was taken to ensure these military personnel recieved the benefits they so richly deserve. Senior leadership always takes the time to speak to you personally. My CEO made his own coffee, even though he had a line of secretaries to pass on his way to the break room. The corporate office is beautiful and sits right in downtown, which is a nice area to work. Camdaraderie among the Tricare division is something I really miss.

Cons

Elimination of annual raises. Parking so far from the office! The two inch candy cane for a Christmas gift. Seriously?

Pros

Solid company with clear direction for the future. The executive committee is a very respectable and talented leadership-body, that IS trying to make a difference in the world, and the workplace.

Cons

Mis-micromanaging everyone because there are loafers that actually need to be managed. I fear people are afraid to "let people go" but I believe that sends a message to them; that their incorrect behavior didn't advance them, and maybe they should change. However, if the leadership is guilty of similar behavior, then they cannot comfortably do-so. I think leadership should be screened for their interpersonal, psychological and people-skills. I have had some very unprofessional and negative experiences. Multiple incidences where I was so shocked that I had to question whether or not I was in the Twilight Zone. Also, I believe when you chain a dog; they are going to run if you let them off.
