      Pros

      Plenty of chances to increase knowledge of crisis management servicing clients plans. Never fall behind on the new fads (Go green, Healthy life-alcohol consumption omitted:))

      Cons

      Really has lost touch with what made for four years of record growth. Defensive cost management instead of pro growth management. Starting to make the same mistakes as the majority of insurance companies have. Pitiful an gut wrinching for us who built Bobs in the treches.

      Pros

      Humana is a wonderful employer. Associates are encouraged multiple times daily to take care of their wellness. There are onsite fittness centers with classes and personal trainers. Humana also encourages career development. There are a variety of resources to help associates grow.

      Cons

      Management is sometimes disorganized and some parts of the company often are out of the loop when it comes to opportunities and certain benefits.

      Health insurance benefit is ironically among the worst

      Pros

      401(k) benefit seems generous. Good cultures and work environments exist in some departments (mostly operations and IT). Location in downtown Louisville is nice.

      Cons

      Employee health insurance benefit is an insult and is loaded with additional fees and administrative requirements. Salaries are well below comparable organizations. IT is a step or two behind other Fortune 500 companies (we just stopped using Lotus Notes last year, and blackberries remain the norm). Many departments are very political (favoritism and lack of transparency in hiring) and many managers are very traditional (e.g., requirement to wear suits to the office, "face time" expected -- even for employees who could otherwise work remotely). Diversity is practically non-existent (think old, white guys with little creativity).
