Hearst is weaponizing a culture of fear for back to office

Pros

Hearst, at the team level, has incredibly dedicated and talented members, everyone is very goal oriented, kind and hard working. Hearst is very well known in the industry and good to have on your resume.

Cons

Hearst has weaponized a culture of fear surrounding their return to office. speaking amongst departments and different office locations, I always hear "they use fear of losing your job to force you in office." Come the mandate of in office, the atmosphere as shifted notably. Multiple employees have commutes that equate to 3+ hours long and have been told to essentially put up with it or else forego your position in the company. The company does not cover travel costs and a lot of the positions are paid below median according to salary statistics. Management is very clear to communicate that they are indifferent to this, and do not take action to accommodate. It is a very "your problem, not mine, get it done" attitude towards their employees.
