Pros

Decent place to work, plenty of things to work on. Good place to refine your knowledge and improve your skills

Cons

Not great for individual growth. Not a whole lot of room for career meaningful career advancements in the technical side of things. It's a media/business company through & through - tech is simply a mean to and end

Pros

Privately held and reasonably large company that provides many different opportunities for smart people. Smart work is well rewarded in my personal experience.

Cons

As with any reasonably sized company, Hearst can at times provide a safe haven for people who are doing little and hiding in the corners. Keeping people motivated is challenging and sometimes frustrating.
