Pros

Nice building and cafeteria, lovely, smart people who work there, perks, in house nurse and gym, great benefits

Cons

Low pay for entry and mid level employees, very heavy upper management, long hours and no overtime, also sometimes treated like an intern when you're a lower level employee

Pros

As the employee survey says every year, the location on Carnay Street is the ONLY real positive.Lower level staff are hard working people and therefore a credit to themselves rather than the business.. Free make up samples and clothes so Hearst UK is a materliastic person's dream.

Cons

Where do I start? The board have no idea what is happening below them. They constantly send out emails telling you how they care but they introduce initatives/benefits/processes that make absolutely no difference at all. Restructuring happens A LOT in some departments because there is no leadership. There is of course, directors in each department, but that title doesnt mean they know what they are doing or that they have any real idea of what needs to be done. Under staffed departments means their is an expectation to work late, every day, beyond 7/8pm. The technology and internal systems are so old that it is amazing they make any money in the current climate. I wouldnt be surprised if the finance department used abacuses and counted on their fingers. Politics and networking with the right people is a must. Get in with the right people and even if you are mediocre at your job, you will be moved up the chain quicker. Sounding and looking busy trump actual ability.
