Pros

-Great first job out of college. Able to learn about advertising, sales, and marketing industries. -Was able to take on projects with little to no overhead. -Great work life balance.

Cons

-We didn't own our digital space at the time, so I was unable to learn about digital advertising. -Corporate structure sometimes has you split between two manager/ magazines, hopefully they are considerate to have to share you. -As with most advertising jobs, you have to jump around to different companies to move up the corporate ladder.

Pros

There was a lot of flexibility and some great titles to work with, competitive hourly rates for a freelancer. Working during fashion week/month kept me busy and allowed me to learn how Hearst Digital works.

Cons

Didn't like how the digital photo department ran. Few titles had dedicated photo editors for the site and they were often in separate locations with little or no creative communication.
