Pros

For people that don't know the difference between an operator (oil company) and a service company ( such as Hal, Schlumberger), Halliburton provides different type of services (i.e. wireline, MWD, ect) to the oil companies. I currently on the field as a wireline field engineer. Most of us guys doing this type of job get compensated fairly well. The more you work the more bonuses you get, simple as that. Compared to Schlumberger, Halliworld offers a lower base salary (upper 50s), but the bonuses make up for it. In my case, I work 6 days on and 6 days off, which is not bad, but when you're on, expect to be call at any time and work for x amount of hours, guaranteed. If you're in it for the money just like I am, then this is a good place to work otherwise get the experience and find another thing in this industry.

Cons

Halliworld will not send you to some place you don't want to go, unlike Schlumberger. I think the base salary can be a little higher than what it is. You work long hours with little sleep.
