Pros

Big Red has a considerable number of training and development opportunities that are great for young professionals that want opportunities to grow. If you are willing to relocate for new positions in places of need, the company will prioritize your career development even further. Working at some point in the frac product service line is a requirement for moving up in the company, especially in a sales role. Have come a long way with benefits (bonding leave, adoption credits, 401K match, etc).

Cons

There is a lot of senior management roles that are full, especially after the oilfield services sector has seen lots of layoffs. Without a combination of executive sponsorship and a bit of luck, it is not uncommon to reach a ceiling wherein it is difficult to advance further in your career track. Looking for fast growth up the chain will be difficult here, and patience is key to building a career.

Inefficient, Understaffed, and Stuck in the Past

Pros

Annual salary increases are a consistent benefit.

Cons

Many key functions, including payroll are managed overseas, which creates major communication delays and a lack of understanding of Australian workplace laws and compliance. They’re impossible to reach and consistently get things wrong. It’s extremely difficult to get timely support or resolution. Local HR staff are stretched far beyond their scope, forced to manage payroll issues, endless visa/immigration cases, and other responsibilities that should sit with specialised teams—none of which exist despite the company’s massive size. The culture is outdated and blatantly male-dominated. Women are constantly spoken down to, dismissed, or treated as little more than admin, no matter their role or expertise. The systems and structure are a complete mess. Everything is overly complicated, outdated, and inefficient. Trying to get anything done is an uphill battle, made worse by chronic understaffing. If you work here, you are a number. That is all.

Pros

Management take bribes to offer rewarding careers to junior staff members who could never get to a senior position, poor management

Cons

No understanding of Manufacturing, costs, lack of transparency, dishonest management, accept cash payments from junior staff members to offer them work favours, HR is useless to even identify the problem, overall don't waste your time working for such a place where your world class engineering is forced to hidden place because your manager accepted payment from jenior staff member in a restaurant
