Pros

Great employees and a flexible schedule, most employees are truly dedicated to doing a good job. In IT they provide a great and flexible work schedule, this helps work around the Houston traffic. Halliburton contributes a lot to the community and tries to often to do what is right.

Cons

In IT upper management has consistently cut costs for the past few years and made employees work more with less resources. Training is hard to get and often turned down. Employees are told to ignore industry trends until the last minute which forced deploying solutions which were not well planned out. In the past few years Halliburton has lost many of its long term employees due to their lack of competitive salaries and very low department headcount.

Pros

Corporate appears to be a real, live, grown up company. Salary is not terrible and until lately, overtime was plentiful!

Cons

Field locations run by many unprofessional, incompetent individuals who merely made their way up the ladder by friends and favors. Promotions largely given based upon the buddy system and harrassment and discrimination are prevalent although most employees fear for loss of employment and as such, keep it under wraps. HR does not offer the support it should to employees. DO NOT work for Halliburton field camps!

Pros

Benefits which include 401k, Stock Plan, Health and Life Insurance at a low rate Great people to work with and cultural diversity There are managers who actually do care about their employees and the company Available tuition assistance; if approved by manager

Cons

Manager discretion on who gets tuition reimbursement for college Typical politics in a corporation with some that enjoy their "power" Some work that moved overseas for cheaper costs Hard to move into other positions (recent career change) Not enough employees to carry the load so current employees are overloaded
