Pros

Great networking opportunities, the ability to know people from alll over the world. There is a meritocracy for middle management and below positions. You can learn best practices from other countries in your field.

Cons

Senior management promotions and appointments are a mistery, disconnected from any actual achievements. Salary is well below market, but expect above market results. No real committment to service but rather to cost reduction eliminating value and missing opportunities.

Pros

HSBC is a great place to work. It is a global corporation in Canada, where local banks dominate the market space. Great salaries, work environment, management and career path. If you do not want to get bored working in one of the big five banks in Canada, come to HSBC and make money!

Cons

The brand in not widely recognized in Canada. So, some people may not know what exactly what HSBC stands for.
