Pros

HSBC is a great brand on resume with international opportunities for above average employees. The organization has a clear value proposition for business with international requirements. HSBC Bank Canada is also a relatively "flat" organization with ample access to senior management.

Cons

The organization does not have a meaningful scale in the retail market and does not have a clear value proposition beyond niche commercial market - this contributes to somewhat limited opportunties for growth and increased uncertainty around job security. There is also substantial pressure to reduce costs and head count from the parent company as HSBC is presently in the process of eliminating over 30,000 positions globally.
