Pros

They are pretty lax on the number of hours you work. Dont know if this belongs in pro or con because it doesn't matter to much to an employee but they scam and lie to their clients

Cons

Bottom 2% salary for experience/location Management lies to you constantly. Always passing blame to someone else. No chance of meaningful raise. No bench time even though they swear up and down about it. Traditional Indian culture only. No room for other world views. Told I was being let go in about a month and a half. Was fired immediately after giving knowledge transfer to other devs. Doesn't look good on your resume. I could not find another job until I removed this experience from my profile completely.

Pros

Not interested to grow in IT. Having Side business on your own. Just want to survive in IT. In one word - Imagine HCL is ( Village elementary government school ) . You are in small IT concern getting low salary then HCL the perfect place to join.

Cons

Extremely too poor in salary. Take home salary will be reduced with the help of new appraisal policy every year. Once you joined with some package then that's your final salary until you be in HCL that too if miracle by not reducing your salary. WPC ( Project allocation guys for bench ppl ) Not the qualified ppl just they hired in contract or in low salary and just BA, BSC graduates. They never mind your concerns and deploy in irrelevant projects, locations, skills. HR also support WPC and not the employee. Example : You are developer in UNIX and for your skills projects not there or takes time to get the project. WPC will force you to go for TESTING, PMO work etc if you refuse to go, they ask you to resign. This has happened to any ppl ( Silently ). Once you agree and move to testing project then your skill set will change to Testing , future projects you get only in testing( Imagine how chilly it is ) Managers are not qualified persons to be as manager, just they promoted since they long term employee ( 15-20 yrs ). Very very rare onsite. Not having reputed clients except CISCO.. Major accounts are USAA, MERC. Rest all projects very small in size. Too many short term projects, unstable clients to HCL. Clients quiet HCL in 1 or 3 years duration cox of the poor deliverables. None of the MANGERS are qualified ppl to bring new projects to the company. HCL getting the projects from the client just cox of Low cost IT service provider compared to others ( TCS, WIPRO, INFY, CTS). Lost many projects in bidding with TCS. Recently LBG, BRITISH TELECOM has gone out from HCL around 2500 ppl were moved to bench at tym. and slowly placed in some short term projects many were left the company. Too many attrition since 2 yrs, that too in 1 yr much and bulk of ppl resigned and moved to other company. Due to this too many requirement drive going on. Especially they are selecting the candidates with just 1 round of interview and same day offer issuance. Many got offer and not joining cox of low package , many keeping this offer as back up and joined in other company by rejecting this offer. Cannot expect any extra income or allowance from the HCL. ( sat, sun work, Cab) Promotions are very very complicated. Impossible to promote , many there even 10 yr experience as SSE. 5Yrs exp as TECHNICAL lead , so by this you can judge. If you are in financial needs in future years do not join HCL and stress yourself.

Pros

Nothing. Absolutely nothing, believe me. Brand name or else if you consider cool infrastructure or similar something as pro...god help you.

Cons

Mundane work, egoistic managers. Employee first is a massive scam, that gave them a distinct standing but deep down reality remains that they hardly care about employees. 18 leaves. Yup just 18 leaves for employees for entire year and they say they care..what a load of crap. My contractual job had 18 leaves. Get married, or bereave over a loss or do something else but don't go beyond 18 a year else your anemic ctc will further be beaten to pulp. And they still like to bray employee first..what an audacious bunch. Timings: A huge thumbs down to those who said flexible timings are here. 9.30 are the general shift hours, and you have to mark your attendance daily by 9.30 else it will show you a delay late marked. I just dont understand what special these lala companies achieve by doing such a ludicrous practice? Employee on the other hands, ends up being a bit more stressed. Deductions: They deduct the last piece of juice remaining outta your CTC. Variables, useless perks, unnecessary bifurcations of structure makes your CTC drop by as much as 25%. Variables are never paid fully. Work is as exciting as flipping burgers in Mcdonald's and even on that managers (especially ladies) throw tantrums as if they were the next CEO in line. Shouting screaming is a culture here... Don't even think about onsite opportunities. If you ask, managers will give you a look as if you asked for their kidneys. In short guys, avoid unless u are made to sign the offer on gunpoint.
