My years with Smithkline Beecham 1998 to GSK 2007 were great. I always knew what was expected of me in the sales capacity. They were a very fair and wonderful to work for. The change in 2008 was defintely for the worse. I understand layoffs and downturn in business is part of a cycle and expected but upper management has absolutely no direction and has completely demotivated the entire sales force. It is incredibly unbelieveable, a complete shame.

Cons

Not a sales organization anymore. Going for customer service. Not happy about this because I am a shareholder. Lost several co-promotions based on sales(non-sales structure). Upper management keeps changing sales structure; this makes sales team realize they have no idea what they are doing. Very demotivated sales team.

Large Pharma with great possibilities if you are willing to move to emerging markets. Competitive salaries and benefit packages.

Cons

Company currently reorganizing to focus on emerging markets. Focus on Western economies and investing in western expansion being reduced dramatically.
