Pros

Friendly co workers, It is a big company with a lot of divisions, there is some degree of job security but that seems to be a virtue not for a long period of time depending on the company's growth and investment in China.

Cons

Company seems to struggle to go beyond being an over grown machine shop. New ideas generally ignored and technology is not utilized to make day to day activities more efficient. Yearly raise is usually around 1 to 1.5% and its getting more challenging to meet with management expectations to meet up for a satisfactory bonus pay. Life work balance is challenging as management push more work on people without figuring out how to run their business efficiently. It could get really stressful at times for work to be finished without sufficient time given for the complexity of the projects.

Pros

The direct employees are extremely competent, easy to work with and many are very loyal. They have a wealth of subject matter experts in Utah, Cookeville, Essen and Linkoping that will be retiring soon with nor heirs apparent. They let you keep your frequent flyer miles and do not take them for wives to use on annual executive team building trips.

Cons

Dallas executives do not understand that the culture of pitting manufacturing sites against each other is not conducive to global team building. Top down Management decisions with that ignore input from experts. No open door policy. As a whole, the Executives who profess the philosophy of outsourcing engineering and manufacturing as a lower cost to India is akin to the Hans Christian Anderson story of The Emperor's New Clothes. Unless you worked at Masoneilan, there exists no upward mobility. Valtek, Durco, Sereg, NAF, and Kammer former employees will never make senior executives for Flowserve
