Pros

So far, it seems to be a very fast paced environment which appears to offer significant opportunity to advance, at least within my business unit. I've learned an immense amount already, if anything, it has been a great opportunity to learn some of the business and a great entry point.

Cons

It's a call center position so it’s very heavily regulated and monitored. Daily schedules are planned to the minute.

Pros

Great way to break into the financial market and obtain your series 7. Options for overtime are amazing. You can work many hours more than the usual 40, in order to make additional time. I knew people that worked 80 hours a week and more than doubled their salary.

Cons

Sometimes you may not get the exact shift that you want. You might be required to work the evenings, though you are able to submit your preference. you might have long hours on the phone, but the calls are very diverse. One call might be from a multi millionare, the next, from a student investing his first $200 in the stockmarket.

Pros

The benefits are excellent. There are not many companies where you get 17% of your annual salary put into your 401K when you contribute 7% pretax. The culture is excellent. Everyone in the org chart is extremely easy to approach and is called by their first name. There is an implied understanding that if work needs to get done it gets done. Lots of overachievers in the company.

Cons

The red tape associated with any large company can get in the way of progress. Six sigma efficiencies are being applied to practices where the human element is a major factor in decision making. The corporate culture that made Fidelity great is being shredded apart by huge veils of secrecy with the new leadership. While Ned Johnson is still the chairman of the board a lot of the decision making is being done by the new president.
