Good, but not exactly what I expected

Pros

Very committed employees; many of the people I work with have been with FedEx for decades. For me, it has been a great opportunity for building experience and exposure to new technologies. Fairly flexible hours where I can take off for parts of the day if needed for various needs (dr. appointment, family activity,...).

Cons

The work/life balance can be focused more on work and less life. The culture of the company, or at least the area I work in, is to put as many hours in a week towards work as possible and maintaining a life outside of work is not encouraged at all.

Pros

The benefits are great. Work schedules are very flexible. If you have a repair man coming, there is no issue working from home while repairs are made.

Cons

Innovation can be stunted by developers that are not used to change or learning new technologies. Use of new technology is limited by long approval processes. If you want to work with new tech you have to be lucky in joining one of few isolated groups.

Little opportunities for visibility with senior management. Re-organizations happen regularly, but it seems to be just shuffling.
