Pros

International company with reasonable benefits. Training program includes videos, manuals, tests and buddy training. Good people to work with and Saskatoon has a very nice facility. Saskatoon management team was eager to help you succeed.

Cons

My biggest surprise and perhaps disappointment is that the technology the company uses is so antiquated. For most people, looking up addresses on a map can be tedious and time consuming. When you are new, that is the way it is done. Try to imagine doing this manual look up for 70-100 packages/envelopes a day and then trying to frame that into a route/run where you are minimizing (or trying to minimize) the amount of time you spend doubling back on yourself. Of course, if you have a regular route, over the weeks and months you will improve in this regard but for someone new it is almost tragic. I am sure that eventually they will incorporate more GPS and the morning sorts and truck set-ups will carry a higher degree of automation but for now things are firmly embedded in the early 1990's. No coffee breaks, very easy to miss lunch breaks when busy.

Pros

Job security, they don't fire anyone because they are scared of lawsuits.

Cons

Too many political games. Company is based on favoritism, if you are not a favorite or a guy you'll be an analyst your whole life. Raises are very weak, only max 3.5% every year. No way to make aggressive financial moves.

Pros

Company will still be here in 20 years.

Cons

No hope to ever Top out and reach what other couriers make. Jobs are constantly threatened at all levels below District Manager. Erratic work hours. "operational need" means we use you when we want you. You Pay for your benefits.
