Have you ever spent time in the back of a trailer...in Texas...in June? Have you ever driven a forklift into a 30mph wind...in Jan...in the rain? This job is not for the weak-hearted. The hours are unconventional, and sometimes sporadic. I saw some pretty scary forklift accidents as well. It can be a pretty dangerous job if you are not cautious. For example, one night a road driver did not get out of his truck to see if his trailer was closed and pulled away from the dock at the exact time that a forklift was driving into the trailer. The forklift fell about 5 feet to the ground and injured an employee. Other incidents include: exploding propane tank, trailer flipping tail-over-head with a forklift (and driver) still inside, an employee hit by a truck while crossing the on-site pedestrian walkway, and plenty of employees getting their feet ran over by forklifts...
