Pros

Easy way to get your foot in the door with little experience. You typically dont need a degree and they dont really check references. If you have decent sales skills and a good appearance you should be ok. Emphasize your willingness and excitement for outside B2B cold calling.

Cons

Little room for advancement, poor pay. The pay is good to start but the market is extremely competitive. If you want to advance the only way is Mgmt. You must be required to relocate where the position is available. Also, if it outside of your district preference will be given to those who work in that district. Make sure your RVP knows you.

Pros

Fastenal is a great company to work for. The CEO is a very down to earth guy. You won't see the company spending money on anythig frivilous. It's strictly business. As a part-time employee, my General Manager is very encouraging and is very flexible with my schedule when my other job requires me to be there. The relationship that I have with the co-workers at m branch is very good. It is like a family when you work for Fastenal.

Cons

There really aren't many downsides to working for the company. I wish I got paid more, but then again, don't we all?

Pros

Excellent training, probably the best in the industry. Each full time employee must complete actual classes during a two week intense course to enable them to go out and sell the products. For the most part, the employees are excited about their jobs and enjoy what they do. Also, Fastenal has a relatively decentralized method of management which enables the employees more decision-making power of their own.

Cons

Some positions are not compensated enough for the work that is produced. Other companies that are smaller have better pay programs and more perks offered to their employees. While overall, their is recognition of top performers, there are too many employees company wide, which causes many others to be overlooked on the local level for their contributions.
